QUestion one Film extract

The hero in this extract is not a conventional action and adventure hero and is actually an anti-hero. Their task is simple yet his clumsy behaviour and over confidence gets him into trouble. The fact that it is set in a dirty old pipe filled with dust and mud yet he wears a full white suit is comical and it is clearly customary of this hero to be unprepared for each situation and hope he gets lucky in every situation. The audience feels part of the action as we know how clumsy he is so can see through his confidence. It makes a viewer feel in a more privileged position than the actor. I feel that this fits into the action adventure genre as well as the comedy sub-genre as it is clearly a humours film. These aspects allow me to identify this as an action, adventure comedy because I can tell they’re on a quest because of the backing track and the action can be seen when he pulls out a gun so he is clearly not going to be sneaking. However dialogue like ‘I’m always careful’ before he bumps his head on the pipe shows this in a much more humours manor and makes it a more light hearted and less serious film.
